Which one of these things is not like the others

I guess I made it too easy, huh?!
.
KathyB! is NOT supposed to be red like a lobster.
.
Clearly we made it and we've been thoroughly enjoying ourselves on the Florida beaches. Pat is working during the day and joining us in the evening and on the weekends. We got to the beach and I got the kids all lubed up and shielded from the sun... and then neglected to do anything to myself! Sometimes I get so excited and caught up in the moment that I forget about things. Important things. This makes me a fun person because I'm spontaneous and fun-loving. It makes me an idiot because what person over the age of 30 forgets to put sunscreen on?!
.
Somebody call Child Protective Services, please?
.
We need an adult on this vacation, ASAP.

Luckily for you, red is TOTALLY your color.

PS: Who do I send my resume to? I'd like to apply for the "adult on this vacation" position.

Hysterical!

Thank you for the reminder! I did this to myself last year and got sun poisoning! No fun!

I can't wait to hear more of your trip!!!

Yay, glad you made it, but ouch, Don't forget the sunscreen!

i am the diva said...

if you soak a cloth in some milk and put it on the burn it should help take the sting out.

:D

Ink said...

Oh, KB, ow! I think aloe vera (from a plant or in a tube) applied to sunburn takes the sting out.

But in the meantime, you are glowing, which is nice!

ymK said...

oh no! Glad you are having fun, though.
p.s. if you accept ck's application for 'adult on your vacation' make sure you guys are not too quiet, because then she would just go to sleep.

OUCH! Poor Kathy B! Yeah, I agree about the aloe vera helping, but I've also found that a giant glass of a pretty-colored rum drink with a cute umbrella helps. See, this is why I should have come with you so that I could help with the kids while you recover. Next time...

P.S. I bet Anon Mom will have something to say about no sunscreen...

I'm totally brining my bloggy friends with me next time... You'll either keep me in line or we'll really get in trouble!!

And I AM glowing...! Eek. Kind of like nuclear waste.

And fwiw, that is the worst. picture. ever. I look like a whale :(

Pour u. At least you remembered the kids. Should have been there to remind u..Love MOM

Hello to Gibby. MOM

Well you have a nice glow? It looks painful, I'm sorry. Let's remember this painful laspe in care for the next time. But you could get your man to gentle rub aloe all over you?

Ouch!

I've done that before. I suppose I have it in my mind that I'm immune to the sun's rays. Though that theory always proves me wrong so you'd think I'd learn by now...

theUngourmet said...

OUCH! That looks painful! I have to say, the red dress sure matches your skin nicely! :0)

Youch - been there, done that! Being the melanin-challenged person that I am, I feel for you!! Gary & I are going on a beach vacation in a couple of weeks & I'm going to try not to fry myself too badly.

Glad you're having fun!! And I'm with ck - I'd be happy to chaperone. =)

I think we'd have a riproaring good time if all of us bloggers went together...but what would other people do with all their free time without our blogs to read?

Glad you made it safe and sound...be careful!!

I always do the same thing! You still look gorgeous!

I like that pic of you. All the little Kathy B! heads I see poppin up all over the blogosphere look different to me (pretty, but different). Cute haircut..I like the current Kathy B! look.

Minus the sunburn.

kathyB I do the same thing all of the time. I hate having sunburn. I hope that you are feeling better soon and are able to continue to enjoy your trip!

Owie! OMG that looks painful! I'm the wacko under the tree wearing clothes, a wide brim hat, and zink over my face!

Susie said...

Ouch!! Be careful with that!

I make that mistake at the beginning of every single season. It never feels hot enough to burn like that, but... Heal quickly!

I always get burnt once and then I remember I'm an idiot.

Enjoy the beach! I'm so jealous.

Poor thing! Hilarious post though. Aloe vera, milk bath (use powdered) and if it gets blisters stay out of the sun. From a very white desert girl.

ScoMan said...

But if you had remembered the sunscreen you wouldn't have been able to write this great post.

Sometimes the pain is worth it.

Don't worry I am over 30ish and I did this a couple of weekends ago. Tooters was lubed up for our bike ride I swear a couple of times I thought she was going to slide off she had so much on. But I forgot me and after 3 hours in the sun in a tank top I really began to feel the "burn" both ways.

Anonymous said...

Ouch! It hurts just looking at you!

Jen said...

I do the same thing. All the time. Get some aloe STAT!

zelzee said...

Clear aloe...then when it's dry glob on lotion....

This I know will work for sure, because as a redhead, you are the color I am just from walking outside from my house to my car!

Anonymous said...

Oh, KB, I'm so sorry. I hope you heal quickly and it sounds like you are having a blast!!!

So, how is the sunburn feeling tonight? Wanted to thank you for the recipe idea! I will have to try it with the beer! :)

Nana said...

Oh, I hate sunburns!!! I just read your intruder story from the other night and it cracked me up. I have had things like that happen to me too.

Sorry you are stuck in the hotel with nothing to eat.

Have fun with the kids.

I'm sorry you got sunburned!! You are absolutely fine not posting the award, haha, people are busy!! I completely understand!! And you have been on vacation!! :)

happeegrrrl@yahoo.com said...

The burn doesn't look that bad until you consider that you are so RED that you almost match your shirt. You're not supposed to be red like a lobster but you are!!!

And why do I show up gray in your comments and everyone else has a link?!?

Patricia said...

OMgoodness. You are red. Okay like you didn't know that. Last time I was that burnt my aunt put yogurt all over me.
(I think it was Vanilla ;) But hey mai tais work just fine too!

Hope you're having tons of fun though and that the burn is not slowing you done.

Lana@The Kids Did WHAT?! said...

OUCH! I did that last summer. Made sure the kids were nicely protected and neglected myself. Well, good news is you probably won't forget again on this deferral!
Heal quickly!

Well, now you can forget about wearing a bra for the rest of the trip! haha

LOL! Hope you manage to find that responsible adult you're looking for! ;-)

Ouch! I forgot to reapply when we were playing on the beach a few years ago and got burnt badly. Blisters and swelling. I'm a lot more careful now.

Jenny Penny said...

Ouch. That looks painful. And yet I want one. My best chance for one? I'll have to go out on the rare sunny day here, let the snow reflect some color into my skin, or maybe just settle on a windburn. Hope you're having fun after that long drive with No-Bladders and Funk-in-the-Trunk.

Kate said...

OW!!! I am so sorry, I am suer that is so painful. I know what you mean sometimes I am thinking about everyone else and forget Oh yeah I need sunscreen too. Have a great week.

Renee said...
