I don't even know where to start

A couple years ago we gutted our kitchen for a remodel. After eating countless meals lovingly prepared in the laundry room, we took the kids to Denny's for breakfast. Madagascar had just come out and they were giving away these masks. The kids thought the masks were brilliant.

This picture makes my heart swell a little when I look at it.

Lack of self-awareness

Free spirits

Open minds

Alive

They make me try just a little bit harder every day, and
inspire me to be a better version of myself.

These little critters are my heroes.

Careful, my friend!

It's a jungle out there!

Love this. I too, think my daughter is my hero. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't try as hard as I do.

Who would have guessed it from Denny's paper masks? I think I would feel the same way about that picture if those were my kids behind those masks. Such fun expressions. Wow!

I did a post once on how we started the restaurant behavior training of our two young barbarians at Denny's!
Four girls? Start saving for weddings now! Cute kids.. I got barbarians, you got animals! :)

Your daughters are so cute, even when their faces are hidden behind those masks :)

If only we as adults could recapture that free spirit that they have in that photo.

Yes, I am often jealous of my kids ability to be so free; like when my daughter was dancing in the isles of the grocery store... wanted to join her but I chickened out.

I just love this post. It totally and completely made my day. You write so beautifully!

Free spirits and fun- they are...and you're doing an awesome job!

The masks are so stinkin' cute!

As which character did you dress up? I'm assuming you wore a mask so you wouldn't be the lone weirdo standing out.

And I'm sure you're theirs.

What a sweet animal menagerie you have there!

I do love that lack of self-awareness kids have. So fun.

Isn't it amazing what these kids of ours can teach us without even realizing they're doing it?

Kids have a way of raising the bar in your life, don't they?

Oh that picture is so cute. I love looking at old pictures. The ones where my kids are little and they adore me. You know before they grow up and realize "Hey she doesn't know everyting."

The good old days.

I LOVED THOSE MASKS TOOOOO!!!

I mean, I didn't wear them or anything. You kids are just the cutest. It's amazing how great they seem, given their scary snakey environment and all.

I hope they read what you wrote someday, in a time they can appreciate all that is involved in being a great and loving Mom. You are awesome.

Oh - you know how to bring out the animal in them.

Just kidding - they're so sweet!

How fun! I bet they were giggling when you took that picture, yes? I can almost hear it. :D

ps: I'm going to stay at Blogger, so you can update your link if you like. It shouldn't mess with your blog at all, really. :)

Wish I was that unselfconscious ... I don't even want to skype my kid at school without make-up....

Im so lame. Although maybe I could use one of those masks

Who wouldn't think these little monsters were your heroes? Our kids make our life whole! Happy weekend!

I love when your kids willingly pose for the camera. My oldest is beyond that stage now and my middle is creeping into it. Luckily, my youngest is the biggest ham - hopefully I'll be able to snap away for a few more years.

LOVE your pic! Super cute!

It's a shame we all grow up and change. We can't be kids forever.. as hard as I'm trying.

I go out like that every day. Saves me so much time putting on makeup.

I LOVE that picture!

But how do you cook in a laundry room? Preparing meals in our tiny kitchen FEELS like cooking in a laundry room....but I'm wondering what the logistics were...like a George Foreman grill?

Sara @ Domestically Challenged said...

How cute! And inspiring! Tell me, did you survive this kitchen remodel? I may not.

Kacey said...

Oh that is just precious. Isn't it great when our little ones inspire us? I know mine inspire me and give me that extra boost I sometimes need. Great post!

I have a picture of my boys coming out of a waterslide with the biggest smiles on their faces. This pic also inspires me.

And to think that the person who created these masks was just trying to keep kids busy.
