This weekend our calendar was full of college football games and birthday parties and sleepovers and everyone was excited. So when I found these in the garden on Friday:
And these in the garden on Saturday:
I was considering myself pretty lucky.
Then we found these:
Technically they weren't in my garden. The four orphaned kittens were under the porch of an unoccupied home, and a neighbor came over to tell us about them. The mother is a feral cat and rumor has it that the neighbor's dog chased her away.
Guess who's their mommy now....

You are a brave, brave soul. Luckily, I have an excuse..I'm allergic.
But the pic of your daughter holding the kitten is really cute!
Ahhhh! So sweet! Thank you for caring for them!!!! I'm a huge cat lover.
That's how we've ended up with pets in the past. It's a great experience. Enjoy them:D
Can you help with my garden? Mine is so sad looking!
Good luck with your new family of kittens! They are adorable.
They are adorable...maybe they'll be little snake hunters for you!
;)
I have three cats. I don't need one. thank you.
However they are so cute.
Awwwww!!! I can never say no to kittens.
for a different kind of girl:
Snake hunters!! Brilliant!! Maybe this is some sort of divine intervention...?
Awwwwww cute kitties. Except that they grow up into cats. CRAP
aww you are a good person. I am not. I am tired enough with two kids, cannot take care of pets.
They are cute, though. But I am not supermom like you :)
Oh wow, you are taking on ALL of them? It's official. You are SuperWoman.
Congrats on your little bundles of joy. So glad that they are old enough to eat on their own. They are adorable. The kitty babies I raised have gone out into the world and are waiting to be adopted. Good Luck you are doing a really good thing Kathy B :o)
Better you than me! I'm not really a cat fan.
Wow, you really CAN grow anything!! {Kitties are so cute!! What's her name?}
~Keri
The flowers are lovely...
I am allergic to cats plus they scare me a bit. Maybe next week you'll find puppies! Puppies are cute!
Oh, little kitties are just the sweetest. That face is priceless on that gray one. Good luck!!!!!
Awwww,,,,, the kitties have a wonderful home, now. You guys are awesome!!
Kittens!!!! How wonderful! Kudos to you and your nice family.
from the mama who was lucky enough to drop the girls off at your house for the overnight...........ALL I HAVE HEARD ABOUT ARE THE KITTIES. That being said, I am glad you are the kind soul that you are!
(and the girls had a blast, maybe next time they will talk to pat).
Those kitties are so cute!!!!
Oh boy!! One for each girl!!
Awe, kittens are so cute!
But then they turn into Cats! Yuck. :)
Oh-oh! FOUR kitties! Ah well, hopefully they'll keep those pesky snakes away... Hope Michel, coconut #2, doesn't get jealous!
Oh man, they are ridiculously adorable!
Those kitties struck gold when they got adopted by you!
You know there is no way you can give ALL of those kitties away. Think of how devastated your daughter was about Michelle Paul!
Hooray KathyB! You won the poster on my blog!! will email the details.
You take in strays? Note to self: When thrown out by wife, call Kathy B!
Congrats on the additions! They are adorable. You are a brave mommy! We just had the puppy conversation over here this weekend. We just eeekked by without getting one...
Aw, kittens are so sweet. But their claws, yeah have fun with that.
Awww, they are so cute!! Just what you needed, huh? 2 more mouths to feed!
awww you're a good mommy. They're so cute!!
KITTIESSSSS!!!
So cute!
You're such a good mommy.
Awww. I love cats. We have three. :-)
Oh, how sweet! Except that there are 4 of them. And they all need to be fed and cared for! But.. they are cute!
The same thing happened to my aunt! Their home just became "That place with all the animals" so when some kittens got abandoned the neighbour came knocking and told them about it.
At first they were like "Why should we have to take them in? We've got enough cats. He's the one who found them"
But that lasted about 10 minutes. They weren't going to let the little things starve in the elements.
Oh no! Congratulations on the new additions to your family:-)
Oh wow. All four?
How sweet.
I love kitties but I could never have more than one at this point.
Oh, I'm in love . . .
Are you kidding? I certainly am not adopting one of those helpless creatures...remember what I did to Skipper the Guppy??
Well at least they won't rot like the coconut...haha! Feral born cats are a little different in personality and temperament from the usual house cat as I'm sure you may have noticed. They are more independent for one thing but they can still make a very good pet and they might help with your critter problem.
Aww those precious little babies will bring so much joy! I wouldn't be able to turn them away!!
you mentioned you had four kitties in your last comment to me. Very cute but I'm so not a cat person I confess I think I would rather have that elephant
Awwww...way to save the kittens! Go you:)
THREE?!?! THREE?!?!!?!??!
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAA!!
I had a bunny and a cat once. The bunny was "lilly" until it started humping the cat.
You're gonna have FUN!
Oh. My. GOD! Adorable! Who could ever resist a kitten!?! Or four???
Good luck with them, will they live in your garden, after all???
Oh goodie, a new blog to haunt! I saw your post at Mommy Machine, and you mentioned your SIL lives in Kenai. I am about twenty minutes from Kenai. I wonder if I know her? Small world! :)
so cute!!
How's the Beav taking it?
Ok, I'm reading these out of order because I was out of town. You are so nice!
At least there's one for each daughter.
They are really cute.. your daughter is cuter with the kitty's.

Boy, I can't grow ANYTHING in a garden, and you are growing flowers, tomatoes, and kittens. You are an amazing woman!!
I think those babies are blessed to be found in your area! You are such a sweet woman to take them in.
Lucky you!
What a garden!
How adorable. I can't show this to my kids though...they would be so jealous.
awwww.. I can empathize with you. How hard would it be to say no, never mind to our own hearts but that face there in the last photo. Straight to the heart that one! :)
