My blog updates are never current. The action is always a day or two (or a week!) after it's happened. I wish I could stay current, but I can't. So without further ado, I bring you:
8 signs that yesterday was Easter!
1) Yesterday I heard the pitter-patter of footsteps in the middle of the night and didn't immediately wonder if someone had the stomach flu. I knew it was Hannah
2) I rolled over yesterday at 6:40 AM to again find myself awakened by the sound of happy footfalls. Instead of cursing the fact that no one under the age of 12 can seem to sleep past 7:00... I grinned in anticipation.
3) The kids offer a candy-filled egg for me to admire. They ask me what's for breakfast... and I tell them they're holding it!
4) I can personally attest to the fact that a perpetual sugar buzz is not an urban legend. I consider myself a trained expert, and I would not recommend that you try this at home.
5) Chocolate actually doesn't sound good. Not even Cadbury Mini-Eggs. And that cracking sound you just heard? I'm pretty sure the top button just flew off my jeans and broke a window after straining unsuccessfully to contain my belly-full-'o-candy..
6 ) I have the dinner menu planned from start to finish for the next week and there are no missing ingredients... Yesterday I baked a ham and Au gratin potatoes that could easily have fed 20 people. There were 6 of us. So... leftover Easter ham, leftover Au gratin potatoes, and random steamed veggies it shall be. The family will be begging for mercy by Wednesday.
7) I sit down for breakfast and can't find room because someone vomited Easter Eggs all over the bench:
I distinctly remember asking someone to clean that up.... If that's the "after" shot I'd hate to see the "before"....
8) Everyone's thumb looks like this:
It happens to me every year. The halves of those little plastic eggs just don't want to go together. You wiggle and align and push and... SNAP! The two egg pieces are as one... with a few bonus layers of my skin caught for good measure.
Happy Easter... A day late

I love the egg vomit picture! You actually let them have candy for breakfast? Such a cool mom!
A late happy Easter to you too.
I didn't follow the last bit.. little plastic eggs? We mustn't have them here.
I think kids make Easter. As someone with only one little one around this year who is only 18 months and doesn't really get what's happening, I can say Easter kind of passes you by without the excited little ones.
Sounds like a good Easter indeed. Full of chocolate and busting fingers open on Easter eggs! Woot!
Loved the list! Chocolate for breakfast. Yummy!
(I also am sick of chocolate though. I had to eat Jonathan's so he wouldn't have too much sugar. Seriously. I was trying to help.)
I'm sick of chocolate, too! Didn't think it was possible!
That's about right:-) Sounds like you had a great Easter!
The kids were up in our house at 6:30 too. On holidays they get a free pass. I love seeing them excited before they see the Easter baskets. Hope your holiday was wonderful.
Ha.. first time to your blog, and I am laughing.. thanks for the smiles.
Sounds like a successful Easter to me! Honestly, I'm glad we got to skip it this year since we were on the road yesterday!!! Not a big fan of the candy for breakfast and the all day sugar buzz...
didn't know you have a Hannah too.. Very cool. Sounds like the perfect Easter (we had candy for breakfast....too...) :) Hoppy recuperating!
I totally understand the "sugar" high!!! my Bailey had gummy bears for breakfast...and I think EVERY child at church had had some form of SUGAR!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
I too am beginning to think that there is such a thing as too much chocolate. My son had his birthday over Easter so there was no escaping the chocolate caramel hearts for breakfast!
i had a few nephews and nieces fall prey to the sugar buzz...then shortly after... the sugar crash!
glad your day was great.
i can't wait for Chewie to be excited about egg hunts.
Sounds like your day was as chocolate filled as ours was. I didn't think Reagan would EVER go to bed last night! And yes, my diet went right out the window along with the button on my jeans!
Happy Easter to you to!
we are pretty much in "hangover" mode here!
For a brief moment I thought I was going to scrambled eggs (vomited) on the bench. I was very much relieved. We were able to skip the plastic egg part, but have plenty of candy and leftover ham, potatoes and such.
belly-full-o'-candy ha! I can never get tired of chocolate though.
Well what the! Yaya is a winner on my blog too, I think perhaps this disqualifies her in YOUR giveaway, making ME the winner.
My thumbs were spared, my jeans were not. Ughhh, today I diet.
Yep, there is a bit of my DNA left on every plastic egg I try to put back together, too.......
But...chocolate foil eggs are evil! evil! evil!....just ask my thighs.
*L* Easter vomit, chocolate for breakfast! You are such a cool mom!
We went to visit our parents... the kids got loaded up with even more junk. We will be doling out the easter goodies for weeks to come.. worse than V-day. *L*
Happy Easter.
I loved "instead of cursing the fact that no one under the age of 12 can sleep past 7:00...I grinned in anticipation." So sweet.
The #1 sign that yesterday was Easter for me is that I find myself constantly pulling shreds of Easter grass out of the baby's mouth. I'm gonna be finding those green shreds of plastic around the house till Christmas..
I'm never blog-current either.
And you JUST reminded me that there are *3* uneaten Cadbury CARAMEL eggs waiting for me today! My kids each got one from their Nana, but NO WAY will I let them underappreciate that kind of chocolate. Only the jelly beans and chocolate bunnies for them!
I always have a list of my blog topics, and I'm never up to date either.
Good thing that wasn't real egg vomit.
Stopping by from SITS for the first time. You made me smile this morning!
Have a great day!
Glad to know I'm not the only one who lets my kids eat candy for breakfast on Easter!
The egg vomit picture?? We had egg vomit over here too....except it was all over my family room floor. I just threw all the plastic eggs into one huge garbage bag to store for next year and I didn't bother to match all the pieces together because I'm sick of looking at plastic eggs. I'll be sorry about that next year when I pull the bag out and realize I have to put together 200 eggs again.
I'm sorry about your thumb! And the eggs everywhere!! haha. I did end up having an Easter afternoon nap & sleeping quite late this morning to make up for my 5 am bedtime :) BUT the Bible covers looked amazing & that is all that matters!!
I hope you had a very Happy Easter!!
Oh, I love this list. The truth behind that mayhem-maker parading around as a bunny! Jelly bean vomit, thumb-cutting eggs, broken pants and belly-aching children! Thanks for the laugh.
Ouch! Hahaha, I think I gained 5 pounds yesterday.
I laughed most at #1...How can such tiny girls make SO much noise! It is a problem in our home too!
I think Easter is the new Thanksgiving. We ate til our buttons popped too!
I've been eating way, way too much chocolate too. I'm almost ready to just eat the rest so it's out of the house (for some reason that sounds logical right now).
chocolate ALWAYS sounds good.
please tell me you won't turn on coke products next. i think my heart might break.
who are you, KBexclamationpoint?
That looks like a fabulous Easter. I am so glad that this year my sister did the egg other wise my house would have been vomited upon with eggs too. I only have the real hard boiled ones to deal with.
I LOVE EASTER! I gotta go, half price candy starts today...don't wanna miss all the good stuff!
Happy Late Easter to you!
Aren't sugar comas the best?
Hugs and Mocha,
Stesha
I feel your pain on the candy overload and too many leftovers... my hubby and I got a little excited I suppose- cooked like we were cooking for 10 instead of 2! :)
Amatuer. You have to pace out your candy, so you have some left in the freezer for those days when kids under 12 are causing trouble by 6am. Of course, you can hit the stores today, which I forgot to do.
My children are trained to not ask for food. They just forage the pantry. There is stuff in the fridge if child welfare stops by to visit.
omg, you had to fill ALL those plastic eggs! No wonder your belly is full o' candy!
Hi Kathy B,
Thanks for coming by the other day. I enjoyed reading your post. How funny your children are. I think I beat those plastic eggs my thumb was okay. I guess I did not have to open up as many as you did. Have a great day. Thanks again.
I'm still suffering the shakes from coming down off the six Reece's peanut butter eggs I consumed in...um...less than six days last week. Heaven help me I can contain myself from going to buy clearance Easter candy!
Easter Egg Vomit! Too funny! My tongue looks like the thumb! LOL
Oh PHEW!! I thought that sound was MY pants exploding due to my chocolate induced girth. I guess it was yours..Yep. that's it. I'm sticking with that, ok? ;)
Yeeeoooowwwch!! I am still finding Easter bunny poop everywhere. Thankfully it was Jolly Rancher flavored jellybeans this year and not the cheapo ones like last year....
You can never eat too much ham! Ouch! Get that kid a band-aid!
Glad you had a good day! :0)
Oh, that's your finger! I missed that the first time! Get that mommy a band-aid!
I had egg vomit in my living room too. Along with crunched up jelly beans that my kids THOUGHT that they liked but then realized that they didn't.
I wish I could say that chocolate didn't sound good. My thighs would appreciate that...but no, I'm still munching on Cadbury Cream Eggs because I found a bunch more for 50% off today. Eeps.
You know you kill me! Your life is so like mine it's scary. Mine had candy for breakfast yesterday & today. And your post gave me an idea for my next Twitt.
That is so funny. I have been picking up plastic Easter grass all day.
Throwing away candy like crazy.
I just found a whole bag of Easter eggs for the hunt that did not get put out for the hunt.
Oh well.
Ha! I'm so glad I opted to send my son to his father's this Easter weekend ...
Of course, I get him back 10% baby, 90% sugar so he's all high octane now ... but I was able to avoid the thumb injury ... Yea!
being Jewish is much less painful as Matzoh is incapable of inflicting that kind of damage
It's so much fun to watch the excitement of the little ones for 'special events' like visits from the Easter Bunny...makes all the work that goes into it so worth it! ;) And chocolate for breakfast? Princess Nagger couldn't believe her luck with the same breakfast on Easter morning... ;)
