Welcome to Chick Chat!

The Concept

What is it girls talk about? Well, absolutely everything... husbands... kids... friends and family... politics.... and, of course, fashion and celebrities.

This same “anything goes” approach applies to the blog world. Blogging allows women to declare what they are going through and find others in similar situations. But what if we could take the blogger connections even farther? What if we could see and hear the people behind the posts?

Chick Chat is a semimonthly post where the ladies from the Three Bay B Chicks and Hot Chocolate Caramel Mocha film themselves chatting on a particular topic. To make things more interesting, we will be linking to three different blogs who have also filmed their own video segment in response to our conversation.

The Giveaway!

The Three Bay B Chicks and Hot Chocolate Caramel Mocha are kicking-off Chick Chat today and
Pooba, Optimistic Cynicism, and The World According to Me will be sharing everything on their mind about the blogosphere. So have some fun and get clicking. Each site has a unique video, so you will have to visit all five blogs to hear and see what these ladies have to say.

That's an attractive face I'm making. Just so you know I was sucking on a HUGE lemon before I did the video. For those who aren't regular readers of my blog, I don't normally dress-up tropical fruit and call it my grandchild, but this stupid coconut has become one of the family. This post from Tuesday explains what's going on here... Next time I'm whippin' out my microphone and singing my improved words to "Womanizer!"

Want Your Turn?!

I promise it's fun!

Let us know by sending an e-mail to contactchickchat@gmail.com. We are looking for participants and topic suggestions. Our plan is to rotate the participation not only among ourselves, but also among all our friends in the blogosphere. We want to hear what everyone has to say.

We’d also like to thank the wonderful sites that linked to us today as part of the Chick Chat kick-off and encourage you to take a moment to visit these bloggers. Their tales, tips, humor, and support are something to which we should all aspire …

The Secret is in the Sauce - There are so many secrets here! You must check them out!
A Nut in a Nutshell - One of the nicest and most sincere bloggers to walk the earth.
Scary Mommy - She's not scary at all. I'd actually call her hilarious!
Scribbit - She gets a gold star for mommying in Alaska. Life's hard enough without cold weather.
Suburb Sanity - Debbie is funny! And someday I'll discover where she gets her inspiration.
VodkaMom - When I grow up I'm gonna be her :)

A great video with true Kathy B. humor. I'm not so sure I'm ready for the video thing yet, but you definitely inspired me to maybe give it a try soon.

Hey Kathy B! - You're gorgeous, witty, and brilliant!

Loved the vlog, so cool to see you and hear your voice. And I agree, you have a beautiful granddaughter!

1.) You are thin and beautiful!! (I can comment on outward appearance first, people, b/c we already know she's got a good personality, ok?)

2.) Your kitchen is gorgeous. Seriously, after seeing your pool I asked, but when can I move in???

3.) Michelle is gorgeous.

4.) I agree 100% with what you said about blogging. Can I just steal your video for my turn?

5.) I would totally be interested in doing this too..but I need time to think of a topic!

Hi Kathey! It's nice to *meet* you. I'm new to your blog but I know I'll be coming back!!!! I mean really, who is gonna give up you singing the re-worded Womanizer song??? Puh-lease!

I hope you had fun doing this, as I KNOW we've had fun watching!!!

Have yourself a fabulous, "famous" day!!!!

I also am in awe of your kitchen...that's one thing that's on my wish list for our next house - a cool kitchen! ;)

LOVED the vlog - I totally agree with you about 'why' I blog, too... :)

Thanks so much for your encouragement to participate - I'd love to, but I'll have to think of a good topic and clean up the Princess Nagger's mess so there's no clutter in the background...(grin!!!)

YAY!! You knocked it out of the park, Kathy B! Great video...oops, I mean, vlog. I love that you brought out Michelle. (Does she stink yet?)

Anyhow, I agree about blogs being therapy. Many things happen during the day that annoy me (like zumba), but then when I sit down to write about it, I realize I was just looking at it the wrong way. All it takes is a few keystrokes and all is well again.

Hello Anon Mom, aren't you proud of your little girl? (I'm not talking about the coconut.)

Debbie said...

You are cute as can be! (Now, we'll discuss a wee bit of help for the dressing up and talking to fruit thing. But, we'll wait until another day for that.)
You did a great job. The volume was perfect!!!! You looked good (fabulous color on you, darling) and you are just the perkiest little thing.
Loved hearing the evolution of your blogging.
I'm so proud of you for jumping in and doing this. You've shown me up, for sure!

I had trouble focusing on your words. All I could see was the awesome kitchen!!! Beautiful wood color. And, I like the painted wood on the island. BIG STOVE!!! Do you ever use all the burners at one time? Like a can of campbells, spagetto o's, pancakes... all going at once?

Anonymous said...

i agree with the one above me! Your kitchen is beautiful..and so was your tropical fruit grand-daughter! :)
Blogging is definitely theraputic...I like being a part of a "bigger" community as well!
You go girl!

What a great idea!

You are cute as a button (strange saying), and just a little doll baby!......I really enjoyed meeting you!

I do TV as part of my job, but I think I would be nervous to do a video.......guess I am just still too new and insecure to the "blogging world"

Good job sweetie. Can`t think who Michelle takes after. Love MOM Hello Gibby. She did good huh?

Jenny Penny said...

Cool as a cucumber, er, coconut! You did a great job. You know, I didn't get a feel in your "we had a baby" blog for how BIG that baby is. She looks more like a gigantic mango, and I love that she's dressed like a babushka. By the way, are you starting to feel like your kitchen stole the show? It didn't, but I must admit, I was admiring it just as much the other readers here. Now, if I ever get the chance to do a vlog, I'll have to go stage it in the model kitchens area of Home Depot. Thanks. ;)

Er...I mean I totally blog to make the world a better place and bring about world peace and to end hunger and...oh forget it...I blog because I am overly self involved. And I'm pretty. And witty. And so smart. And....er...sorry, right this is suppose to be about YOU...

Yes, you are clearly pretty and witty and smart also.

Carina Gardner said...

I am SO glad you came over and commented on my blog so that I would remember to pop over here because that video was AWESOME! I think some of us tend to "hide" behind our blogs (I do:) and it was so fun to really sort of "meet you."

As for your kitchen, it is SO CUTE! The dark wood is my fav...as for paint color it depends on how funky or sophisticated you want it to be. My first gut instinct is to paint it a pale creamy yellow. Soft and happy. My funky side says to go celery green...with a hint of lime in it to make the kitchen a fun, vibrant place. lol. For anyone else reading this, Kathy popped over to my blog and as a "just for the fun of it" asked what color I would paint her kitchen.

So there you go. I love telling other people what color I would paint their walls. Kathy, believe me, you are only the 5th person to ask me this week...lol

Lesley said...

you did a fabuluous job...and summed up so well why so many of us got into blogging...and can I just say...LOVE your kitchen....

Ryan Ashley Scott said...

You are fabulous! So glad you decided to introduce Michelle - she gets funnier and funnier the more I see her. Good thing you put her back under the counter or she might have shown you up. And really, you were self-concious? You look completely at ease sitting there with your diet coke.

Unknown said...

You are so cute! I love the longer hair, now go change your profile picture. That was an awesome vlog, I'm off to check out the others as soon I feed this hungry Ethiopian boy tugging at my leg. He's hawngry, poor guy!

I think you did a wonderful job. You are so brave along with the other ladies to do this. I have enjoyed blogging also. I love the idea of meeting new people and reading there stories. Have a wonderful day.

I love the whole chick chat thing.....but not sure if I am video blog material.....I don't even have a coconut grandchild. :-)

Have a beautiful day.

Denise Grover Swank said...

If I'd only known i could dress up fruit and call them my children (or grandchildren in your case) I might not have so many children! LOL You did an awesome job!

I can relate to a couple of things in your vlog. First, the Diet Coke! Girl, things just don't get done unless I've got my Diet Coke! Second, the narcissism that results from blogging! Isn't it weird, to have a blog and want it to be successful means you have to promote yourself (something that doesn't automatically come natural for me) but then when you do and you like having more readers and more comments you then feel "full of yourself." What's up with that???

koopermom said...

Very cute! I love your kitchen. and I always have my diet coke with me too!! Now to go find out about that coconut...

Helene said...

Goodness, KathyB, look how adorable you are!!!!! Such a hot little Mama!!!!! Who knew??!!

I also adore your kitchen...you must tell me your secret to keeping it spotless! If I ever did a vlog I don't know where I'd do it because there is not ONE clean area in my house.

Can I trade a couple of my kids for your "grandchild"? I bet she doesn't talk back to you the way my kids talk back to me!

theUngourmet said...

Oh, you did such a nice job! I love your kitchen!! (Is that your real kitchen or did you sneak into Home Depot to make your video?) :0)

Riddle Girl said...

You did AWESOME! (Is that word even still hip to say!)
It was fun to hear and see you!
I love that most of us have started blogging for the same reason (journaling for ourselves or kids). Then for me it has turned in to therapy of sorts too! I have to edit myself since my kids and family read the blog so it makes me take a different look at situations too!
But I don't think my writing skills will ever match yours! I am guessing you got EXCELLENT grades in English/Writing.
Thanks for sharing your "World"!
-Heather
P.S.-Love the kitchen too! It's funny to think about falling cakes, exploding Diet Cokes and cereal messes happening in that very clean kitchen!!!

Kelly Deneen Raymond said...

I a agree with you. I am new to this blog world but what keeps coming to my mind since I started this is I wish they would have had this when my kids were young. Now I am a babysittin Granma who does a lot of talking about her Bug-a-Boo and it is just fun to read other blogs and meet new people.
Hope you have a great day!

How very fun! I'm visiting from SITS! It is nice to meet you! I stalked you for a while and decided to post a comment! I enjoy blogging and documenting my life and also getting the feed back for others. When I feel down I just blog, and I start to feel better.

Okay, so I had to go and look at your post to explain the coconut because I was starting to think you were a little nuts yourself! Thanks to the Chick-Chat, this is my first visit to your blog. I found my self laughing out loud at more than one of your posts, so I'm now a follower and I'll be back to visit again!

Great video by the way! And I LOVE your kitchen!!

You did just a fantastic job!! And you look fantastic, too, regardless of whether you did one out of three! It would have taken me four days of pep talks to do such a thing, and then 10 seconds in, I'd have been all, "Ohhhh...shiny!" and wandered off.

Well done!

Your granddaughter is beautiful...I can see where she she gets it from!

Great video Kathy- I enjoyed hearing your blogging story. I can definitely see how it has made you be a great mom- I've found it's easier to handle situations when I look at them from another perspective- and you are right- it usually is funnier. Like when today I had to wash dog poop off of Annabelle in the driveway...
Also- knowing you as well as I think I do- did you just clean that one corner of your kitchen? Just kidding!!! Not even one square inch of mine ever looks that clean.

So young to have a granddaughter! I must now read why a coconut is your granddaughter. I would have gone with a pineapple myself.

Okay, I am jealous of your kitchen.

I also drink diet coke. I need it to function properly.

I would SO make a video but my husband took our camera that makes videos with him on his TDY. Grrr. Then again, if I did a video it would mean I'd probably have to switch into regular pants. Normally I just walk around in my PJ bottoms if I'm not going anywhere. Right now I'm wearing my spiffy spongebob bottoms.

Utility lines and cables remain safe because the tines of a root grapple bucket attachment curve upward and outward to prevent accidental snagging. Records can be retained to call forth. You'll also need to take a practical test, which can be done at the RTO or on field.
