The death of patience

It's okay, sweetie. You didn't mean to dump your cereal all over the floor. Next time let's remember that we don't do handstands in the kitchen. Even when your sister double-dares you.

cat002
I told you to change (your shirt). We talked about this. And didn't I tell you to lean over? I will try to get the ravioli out of your shirt (the shirt that she just earned today for memorizing all of her multiplication/division facts in a timed test. The shirt that no one else in her grade has earned. The shirt that has made her a veritable rock star amongst her peers). Don't cry... I'll soak it and it'll be good as new (fingers crossed) by tomorrow...

cat003
Hey! Who left wet towels all over the bathroom floor?! How many times do I have to tell you not to leave wet towels all over the place?! And would it kill you guys to rinse the tooth paste down the sink after you spit?? When your father gets home....

cat004

Tell me this is not underwear on the (kitchen) counter?!?!?!
Who left their underwear on the counter? I don't care if it's clean, it's gross!
Seriously! You have to think before you do these things...
I can not believe I even have to tell you these things!!!
Am I the only one in this house with their head screwed on right today?!?!

No kittens or baby chicks were harmed in the making of this post.
My mental health, however,
is officially damaged.

As for the kids, well, some save for college...
I'm saving for therapy...
Mine, not theirs.
.
And yes, it was one of THOSE days...

OH! Right there with you my friend! I LOVE the pictures. They are hilarious. Thanks for making me laugh this morning. I needed it!

I don't even want to get into all of the places I find my daughter's underwear. It's like an everyday Easter egg hunt. But without the eggs and candy and general excitement.

I hate those days. Hope today is better.

And I love the cat.

Oh, how funny and true this is!

Hoping that today is not another one of *those* days!

EEK! :-) I can so relate... This was funny, such a theraputic way of dealing with a day. You may get to spend that "therapy savings" on a nice "deferral" somewhere nice...

Oh! YOu have caught "one of those days" really well! They are so painful aren't they?

Riddle Girl said...

The pictures really helped define the mood! I can relate!
My daughter thought it would be fun to put the whole bottle of shampoo down the drain the other night. (And she is 9.) I keep wondering at what age they don't do dumb/silly things.
Then I remember my teenage years. I think I will go in to hiding now.

Debbie said...

They just do not think, do they? And I think we've had dirty underwear there before!

I love the pictures. I've had one of those days for the last seven.

I think I am coming unglued!

You asked if I had any ideas for dinner tonight. Yes. I can't print them out now though. I suggest you all go out on the town.

Oh, and I agree you would fit in great at this funny farm, you are offia ( I can't even spell) anyway you are adopted!!!!!

Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss (of patience)

I've had one of those days for 24 years. Wish I could say it gets better, but it really doesn't, kids just manage to suck the life right out of you sometimes.

Bwahahahaha!

That. Was. Perfect!

OMG I hate those days. Last night I had the trail of dirty clothes including underwear up the hall ways. Wet towels not on the floor but my bed. And I do not even want to know what that was left on the kitchen table just clean it up.

Love the pics! Hang in there Kathy B....tomorrow, tomorrow, there's always tomorrow!

With 2 boys, aged 5 and 6, EVERYDAT is one of "those" days. I was hoping it got better. After reading your post, I may just go to bed for the next 15 years.

What a riot! Sounds just like my house! Except the part about knowing times tables! My daughter hates those! It's like pulling teeth!

Banteringblonde said...

Just be happy it was underwear and not a dirty pull up!! I once spend a few days following the scent until I finally found it in her closet blech!

I am still laughing at those pictures!!! Hahahaha!!!

I am sorry that you are having a rough day but this has got to be my favorite post that I read today! Totally made me laugh out loud, seriously.

Hilarious! A therapy-for-mom fund is an excellent idea. I think I'll add it to the budget right now...

Crazee Juls said...

Oh you crack me up. I totally got what you meant.... And even if you meant, "Maeci get off the road" that would have been perfect too... She's only 12, and bugs us to drive nearly every chance she gets... ?!?! When we were on vacay last week, she ran and jumped in the driver's seat after we left a restaurant, and that's how these pics came to be...She was acting out how her driving would go. This is really long explanation, isn't it??! That's why I dislike wordless wednesday...and coffee, heck yes!

LOL! Had one of those days too! Including a filthy dog that ran all over the house before we managed to shower him...

UH OH!!!
Sounds like an eventful day in your household. Better underwear on the counter than on the head like my kids do! LOL

Grand Pooba said...

Ha! But I thought cleaning up after you is all what moms are for!

The Blonde Duck said...

You know what's really funny? My Chihuahua dragged my clean underwear in the kitchen the other day from the laundry pile on our bed and my husband put it on the counter in the middle of the mess I was making for dinner. I was about a level two kitty/ duck there. :)

theUngourmet said...

Okay, I have to tell you that my son thought this was so funny he made me bookmark it so he can watch it over and over!

Susie said...

Alone in a house of craziness and you are the one that needs the therapy...doesn't seem fair does it?

Anonymous said...

Ok, the pictures are so awesome! And this right here is why moms should have a manditory fifteen minute break of chocolate and caffine in the middle of the day. Granted when the snowball starts rolling, it's hard to stop. Have a better day!

for a different kind of girl said...

Ha! This all seems hauntingly familiar! I am pretty sure I gave a reasonably similar outline to my oldest son last night! Especially about the wet towel laying around!

Niki said...

I'm with ya. Seems like it's everyday that one or both of my kids does something I can't believe.

Cute graphic.

Gibby said...

Oh dear, that does not sound fun at all. Seriously, why can't these kids just GET IT already? :)

Would you like to share my bottle of Cab Sav?

Hi to Anon Mom!

P.S. Did the math shirt come clean?

Those pictures/animations...hilarious!

Just a tip.............

Save LOTS of money for therapy!

I LOVE the pics. Sorry you had a crappy day. Hope tomorrow is better but somehow I think it will be more of the same. Aren't kids great. I tell Miss Megan I understand why some animals eat their yound and she would probably taste ok smothered in ketchup. HeHe

Your blog always makes me smile as I think of the madness that is family life.

Miss D. is sitting here mesmerized by the pictures of that cat and the poor chick. She is now eyeing our cat with fearful suspicion...

I'll start saving for your therapy too. I think it might cost extra for you. ;)

That is HILARIOUS!

Lana@The Kids Did WHAT?! said...

Love the last cat and chick pic! I once found my son's underwear in my fridge. Right beside my car keys. Why must they DO this?!?!

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, in my house, it would probably be my husband who left his underwear on the counter.

Thanks for stopping by Sweet Life the other day! And I hope tomorrow is a better than today.

CynthiaK said...

This is exactly why I read blogs. So I can see that others are experiencing just the same kind of pain I go through every day.

Like I believe you may have commented on my posts in the past, it's no fun when it happens to you...but when it happens to someone else, it's soooo funny!

And, I'm laughing with you. Really.

AiringMyLaundry said...

Hey, I could have written this. Only it would be about my HUSBAND who seriously behaves like my third child. Thank goodness he hasn't left underwear on the counter. YET. I'm waiting for it though since he seems to leave his dirty clothes everywhere else.

bernthis said...

underwear on the counter? Oy. Sometimes, I think mothers are the only ones with brains in the entire house.

Jenny Penny said...

Loved that little "change (your shirt)" bit. Admit it, though: You kinda meant more than the shirt today, didn't you? Because when I have days like that, and I ask the kiddo to change, I could think of lots of things I mean by it: the look on her face, her idea of fun, her appetite, her needs...

wow, i loved this post. :D

I love the cat and the chick. I know that I have days like this all of the time. There is only so long you can maintain your patience. I loose it every now and again! My husband is no better. It was funny I placed his night clothes under his pillow yesterday when I made the bed and he found them! I said to him, "it sure was nice of me to pick those up off of the floor and place them in a nice place. Perhaps you could try it for yourself tomorrow." Of course I found them on the floor again! He is no better then the kids.

OMG, the pictures took a little while to come in (I have crap internet service) so I was reading and laughing and then, at the end, there were the funny illustrations, like a little treat. KB, that was awesome.

How did the duck get stuck to the kittens paw?

The pictures are fantastic!!!

The toothpaste in the sink never fails to push me over the edge. EW!

Mr. Linky is not complicated at all. You just type your name in the first blank (at the bottom of the post) and then for the second blank, you copy and paste the link to your post in it. To get your link for your post, you just click on the title of it on your blog page, and it will be in your address line. Does that make sense, or did I just sound crazee? It'd be awesome if you played along. WOO HOO!

Why in Bob's name can I not see your post for today? I see it on my dashboard but when I go to it I end up in this one! Am I the only one? :0( C'mon Kathy B, I need my laugh for the day! :0)

Poor thing. Reminds me of that song the lady sings to William Tell's overture of all the things a mom says in a day, have you seen it?
